
Do’s & Don’ts after extraction
When you’ve had a tooth removed (extracted), you need to take care of your mouth.
Do’s
- Do eat a diet of soft, healthy foods and snacks.
- Do brush your teeth gently.
- Do keep the extraction site clean.
Don’t
- Avoid smoking: You should not smoke 1 week after extraction site if you smoking at the time it may interrupted with formation of blood clot it may also leads formation dry socket
- Avoid the use of straws: After a tooth extraction, you could not use straws it can create negative pressure in the oral cavity which can disturb the blood clot, results delayed healing process.
- Do not rinse your mouth: Avoid rinsing your mouth for the first 24 hours after a tooth extraction to allow the extraction site to healing.
- Avoid spitting: You should not spitting 24hr after extraction it can also interrupted with the blood clot formation it can leads to delayed healing process it may cause dry socket
- Do not consume hot drinks: Avoid consuming hot drinks, which can damage the extraction site , it can also delayed healing process.
Avoid chewy or hard food
- You should not chewy or bite hard food it causes food lodging in extraction site may leads delayed healing
- Avoid sneezing or blowing your nose
- You should not sneezing or blowing your nose because it can cause increase pressure in your mouth may disturb the blood clot
- avoid using your tongue to touch the extraction site it may disturb the blood clot leads delayed healing process
Aspirin should be avoided
You do not use aspirin before & after tooth extraction, aspirin thinner the blood clot it can leads sever blood lose
